LOVING GOD.
LOVING PEOPLE.
LOVING MINISTRY.
KIDS AT BBC
When we wanted to have children, the doctors told Susan and me that we would never be able to have children. We claimed Psalms 113:9 "He makes the barren women keep house and be a joyful mother of children." After much prayer and many doctor visits, God miraculously gave us Alan and then a year and a half later, Rachel. Our cup now overflows as he has blessed us with two grandsons and we're anxiously awaiting more grandchildren!
Let's talk more about where you grew up and your early years...
We didn't have a lot of money when I was growing up. I remember opening the front door to find ten bags of grogeries someone had left on our porch. After helping myself to many of my favorites, I finally ran into Mom and Dad's room to share the good news! At the age of six my Dad felt the call of God to moved our family to Chattanooga Tennessee to attend Tennessee Temple Christian College. After finishing his degree we moved to Chickamauga Georgia where Dad worked a full time job and became a bivcational Associate Pastor at Solid Rock Baptist Church. After a few years Dad and Mom felt God calling them to Huntsville, Alabama to teach at Beracah Academy, so we moved to a home on Grizzard Road and lived there for several years until finding a better home in Cherry Creek subdivision, where Mom and Dad still live today.
Who has influenced you the most in ministry?
My Mom and Dad's life has served to give me an example of following God's plan no matter what. My brother, and sister's as well seeing all they have went through and their faith has remained strong. I have many other friends in the ministry and my life that God has use to bring me closer to Him, and to help to keep me close and obedient to God and His Word. Pastor such as Lee J Hudson at Heritage that believed and supported me as I ministered in the youth ministry. Joel Carwile here at Bethlehem for those 13 years we served together, his support and encouragement was a life saver at time when the youth Ministry was having exploding growth, and even to this day we are like brother and support each other's ministry through prayer and accountability.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I love the outdoors, hunting and fishing is a time i can get away from the business of life and ministry and simply soak in God's creation. Watching the sun come up in the morning and hearing the wild life around me wake up is so awesome and soothing the soul. i enjoy spending time with Susan the kids and their spouses and the grandkids and the rest of the family.
What are the top 3 things on your bucket list?
1. Go to Israel with Susan and walk where Jesus walked and see where Jesus ministered,
2. Sky dive
3. Go on a hunting trip of a life time for at least a week
Where do you and your family go for vacations?
We go to the beach, we love everything about it. Over the past few years we have fallen in love with kayaking and shark fishing out of the Kayaks in the ocean! Susan call us "The Red Neck Fishing Club"!
What's your favorite food, drink, candy?
A good tender Steak, and a salad with everything, and wash it down with unsweet tea with plenty of splenda. My favorite candy would have to be Hershey with almonds.

How long have you been at BBC?
I joined in 1991 and immediately began helping with the youth... I officially became the bi-vocational Youth/Associate Pastor in March of 1992, the full time Youth Pastor in January 1998, and then Senior Pastor in July 2007... the rest is history!
Tell us more about your family...
My wife's name is Susan, we met as Sophomores at Johnson High School and dated for 5 years before we married in 1983
I actually bought Susan's engagement ring with the money I made selling candy between classes in high school! Neither one us ever really dated anyone else... we raised each other just like we wanted, and then got married!
We have one son, Alan and one daughter, Rachel. They are now happily married, Alan is married to Becca and they have blessed us with two grandsons, Cooper and Hudson. Rachel and Cameron have now been married over a year and have blessed us with two beautiful grand-dogs, Bear and Nellie.
