Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.  2 Timothy 2:15

Awana is a global, non-profit ministry with fully integrated evangelism and long-term discipleship programs for ages 2 to 18 that actively involve parents and church leaders.  Each week, more than 2 million children and youth, 330,000 volunteers and 260 field staff take part in Awana in 30,000 churches around the world.  Offered through local churches, Awana reaches kids where they’re at and walks alongside them in their faith journey.

At Bethlehem, Awana is a very special time for us to work one-on-one with children from age 2 to 6th grade. We encourage them to share their prayer concerns and to pray out loud.  We also encourage their participation to lead devotion during Large Group Time to help them overcome possible fears of speaking in front of people.  The gospel is presented each Wednesday night, and at the conclusion of Large Group Time, an invitation time is offered to allow children that may be ready to make a decision to accept Christ or simply to ask questions of the leaders about their salvation. To reward them for bringing their Bible, Awana book, weekly dues, wearing their uniform, and attendance, they earn points and Awana Bucks that can be spent in the Awana Store twice a year on fun and seasonal prizes!

Awana is built on five principles:

  1. Awana is centered on the gospel

  2. Scripture memory is key

  3. Awana is fun and exciting

  4. Children and youth are trained to serve

  5. Awana is built on strong leadership

I am so blessed to be in this position to work with your children and I pray that you will bring your children on Wednesday nights and allow our team of Awana volunteers the opportunity to share the gospel with your children so that they may come to know the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Savior.
