Mike is in his eighth year serving at Bethlehem Baptist Church. In 2005, he was placed on staff serving as the Student Director for education and outreach ministry Community Changers. He also holds the position as City Director for the First Priority Student Campus Ministry of the Greater Huntsville area.
Mike accepted the call of ministry on October 14, 1985. Since that time, he has worked primarily with youth in the areas of education and evangelism. He has been preaching and teaching in local churches and at regional events; and coordinating youth and community events for dozens and for thousands. His education and work experience is in business management. His primary spiritual gift is in administration. Mike strives to have his personal mission statement encompass everything he's about:
“To help make an eternal difference.”
He is married to Linda for 33 years. They have a daughter Amy, and a son Matthew. Linda’s family roots have been planted in Hazel Green for generations. They both graduated from Hazel Green High School.
Mike has a passion for serving the needs of Christ. His goal is to provide students with opportunities that he didn’t have while growing up. First, provide students with the gospel message in and out of the four walls of the church. Second, provide opportunities for them to be properly assimilated into the body of Christ. Third, teach students to pass down an eternal legacy for future generations to imitate. Mike is thankful for the privalege of serving with his fellow family members at BBC . “I’ve come to appreciate the fact that the time spent on earth is the shortest time of our lives. Life is just a vapor and it’s gone. We can’t waste life on heretical doctrine and tradition. Each minute someone is hurting and lost without Christ.” What Inquiring Minds Want to Know: He has a Jack Russell Terrier named Matty, which was a Father's Day gift from his family. She reminds him daily of what true love, humility, forgiveness and obedience is all about!
Fireproof is his favorite movie. "It is a perfect illustration of how God will work in anyone's life, if you let him." His favorite worship groups are Casting Crowns and Third Day His favorite scripture is Luke 9:48, "Then he said to them, 'Whoever welcomes this little child in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me. For he who is least among you all- he is the greatest.'"
He wants to meet the Apostle Paul when he gets to heaven. "Because I admire his steadfast endurance and dedication as a servant for Christ. He was all things to all people." These days, he is most likely to be at home or church. He says, "I was once part of the world, but now I'm not. I have come to appreciate the short amount of time I have on this earth and want to leave a positive legacy for my children and the community that I serve to honor the our Lord."
His birthday is September 18th. "My Lord, my family, and my ministry is my life! Thank you Father for making it a joyous one." |
